One year after the disaster at the Little Bighorn, General John Gibbon published these articles about the 1876 expedition in pursuit of the Sioux and Cheyenne. Gibbon commanded the Montana Column that arrived at the Little Bighorn two days after Custer and five companies of his men were killed and rescued the men under Reno and Benteen.
