American Revolution diaries

Louisa Susannah Wells was the daughter of “an eminent American loyalist” who fled America during the Revolution to make her home in England. She tells us that everyone on the ship that carried her away was “banished,” although it’s more likely they were finding things a bit hot in America and unsuitable to their loyalist sympathies to King George.

Nevertheless, this woman tells a wonderful tale of crossing the Atlantic.
